One page a day from the world’s oldest wisdom

Daily Wisdom Books publishes 365-day secular reading books that take one wisdom tradition, strip out the doctrine, and leave the part you can actually use tomorrow morning. Five minutes of reading. One small thing to do. Then the rest of your day.

What is a Daily Wisdom book?

A Daily Wisdom book is a 365-day secular reading book. Each day gives you one short passage from a public-domain source, two or three paragraphs unpacking it in ordinary language, one small practice you can do that day, and a single line to carry with you. One day fits on one page. It takes about five minutes.

There is no religion in it, no signup, no app, and no thirty-day transformation promise. You read the page. You do the small thing. That is the whole method.

Which tradition should I start with?

Start with the one that matches the problem you actually have.

If you areStart withWhy
Reacting to everything, angry at circumstances you did not chooseDaily Wisdom: StoicismThe Stoics were not calm people. They were practicing, badly, every day, at telling apart what they controlled from what they did not.
Pushing hard and getting nowhere, exhausted by your own effortDaily Wisdom: TaoThe Tao Te Ching’s central claim is that most force is wasted, and that acting with the grain beats acting against it.
Gripping tightly, unable to let a thought or a loss goDaily Wisdom: BuddhismBuddhism’s practical core is about attachment: what it costs, and what happens when you loosen it.
Capable but frozen, unable to act because you cannot control the outcomeDaily Wisdom: Bhagavad GitaThe Gita opens with exactly that: a competent person, paralyzed, staring at a life too heavy to move through.

Not sure? The secular daily reading list walks through all four in more detail.

What if I want a program instead of a daily reading?

The 30-Day Shift is the other series Mitra Goris writes. It works differently. Instead of a year of daily reading, it takes one specific problem and works through it in thirty days, with a morning session and an evening session each day. It is grounded in behavioral science rather than in any wisdom tradition.

Two titles are out: No Stress in 30 Days and Stop Overthinking in 30 Days.
